I don’t venture into political posts too often but this one was too good to pass up. It’s that time of year where much of the mail is “political advertisements”, for lack of a better term. I usually sort through these quickly and file them in the recycle bin. Today, one caught my eye that I found humorous, especially if one understands California politics and the history of Secretary of State; Governor No. 34; Mayor of Oakland; Governor No. 39 Jerry Brown. Governor Brown (aka Governor Moonbeam) also ran for the Democratic Nomination for President of the United States in 1976, 1980 and 1992 and failed in each attempt. Governor Moonbeam also tried running for the United States Senate in 1982 but once again failed to win.
For those outside the Land of Fruit & Nuts Politics, Governor Jerry Brown is on the left.
The first thing that I find striking in this picture is the expression on Governor Brown’s face as opposed to Mr. Steve Glazer who is a complete unknown. Second is that both men are looking in different directions. As far as an “endorsement picture”, this is what I would expect from his opponent, whoever that might be. Last but not least, I was unaware there was anything known as a “Jerry Brown Democrat”. If there is such a club, I’m sure Mr. Glazer is the only member (my sarcasm overfloweth). Based on Governor Brown’s track record, I think Mr. Glazer will have a difficult time winning as a “Jerry Brown Democrat”.
