Today I’m choosing to be happy because of a woman named Penny. I have never met Penny face-to-face, and most likely never will, but she helped me with a serious problem.
After my daughter arrived at her Peace Corps assignment in Uganda, I phoned her to see how she was faring in her new world. When my phone bill arrived there were no international charges. Same thing happened the next month. I kept expecting a charge for the international calls but they never materialized. I even checked their website to see what to expect. Nothing. With all the choices for phone service, I concluded that my calling planned covered these international calls.
Then last week my phone bill arrived and I discovered that each minute we talked cost five dollars for a total of $495!!! After calling customer service three times with no success, I was eventually transferred to at&t’s Customer Retention Department (32 years as a customer). Penny answered my call and was also shocked by the $5 per minute charge. After several meetings with her supervisor, Penny was able to set me up with an affordable plan and pro-rate my existing charges saving me just over $409. What a God send!!! It is nice to know that BIG corporations still have people who go the extra mile to serve their customers.
That’s awesome.!! Kinda reminds me of my first bill when I moved to Mexico.! Who knew about roaming charges.??!! Some very nice person helped me solve my problem too 🙂

How lovely of her. My husband and I had a $64 phone call once when he was in Haiti. We thought we had taken care of it beforehand, but we just paid it. Course that’s nothing like $495!!! You got the right person on the phone.
