The past few days I have noticed a subtle change in the air. The sun is lower on the horizon when Maggie and I go out for our morning stroll. I have seen vineyards heavy with fruit and that the grape harvest has begun. The fall equinox is only a few weeks away and there are scientific reports that an El Niño is forming that may be the strongest ever recorded. It feels as if fall has arrived early this year. The cool weather is a welcome relief from this year’s triple digit temperatures. I’m looking forward to the smell of the first rain.
