It has been said by many that today’s vehicles are to complex for the shade tree mechanic. I have learned that in many ways it is easier to maintain and repair my 2004 Dodge Dakota than my first vehicle which was a 1971 Ford Courier. My Courier had manual everything and ran poorly on cold mornings. My faithful Dakota keeps on running and tells me via the computer exactly what is wrong. Earlier this week as I started my truck to head off to work, I noticed it had a slight misfire and was idling a little rough. As I was leaving work the Check Engine light came on and gave me the error code for a misfire in the ignition system. As I considered the possibilities, I recalled that the plugs were at the point of needing to be replaced. This evening I installed eight new spark plugs and everything is back to normal. For that I am truly happy.
