Choosing To Be Happy – No. 218

Last year during the Big Dig, a good number of Paper White bulbs were dug up and set aside to be replanted. They ended up in a five gallon bucket which made its way to the Summer Kitchen. There they waited for an opportunity to be planted back in the yard. I could make a list of reasons why it never happened, but there is a lecture from my childhood about excuses rattling around in my mind. Needless to say, I found the bucket not to long ago with the Paper Whites struggling to grow. Maggie and Sally insisted on supervising the replanting and checked each hole to asure nothing suspicious was being dug up. This picture is one of the new patches growing around the Red Dog Estate. I’m happy I found them and finally got them back in the ground. 🙂

  1. Blooming Paper Whites are a sign of good luck in this New Year of the Pig. So enjoy, and they bring into our days fond memories of where the bulbs were originally planted and then pass on to us to treasure and enjoy.

    1. I was thinking of the family history and that these came from Great Grandma through you. I enjoy these flowers every year and they make me feel connected to Great Grandma and her love of gardening.
